I’ve never had driving lessons before; how many lessons will I need?

The average student takes between 35 and 45 lessons.

When can I take my first driving lesson?

You can actually start your first lesson at age 16½.

Can I decide when I take lessons?

Lessons are scheduled in consultation with you, and your schedule is naturally taken into account.

Will I have the same instructor and the same training vehicle for every lesson?

Yes; your regular instructor knows exactly what level you are at, and you will of course have a dedicated training vehicle.

Will I be picked up at home, or can it be somewhere else—like school or the city center?

Absolutely; I am flexible about where I pick you up!

How long does a driving lesson last?

A driving lesson lasts 60 minutes. Which car is used for the lessons? A well-maintained Ford Fiesta or Renault ZOE (Automatic transmission).

Can I take driving lessons before I turn 18?

Yes; since November 1, 2011, you are allowed to start car driving lessons at age 16½.

I don’t have a theory certificate yet; can I still take driving lessons?

Yes, you can take driving lessons without a theory certificate.

Can I take lessons in the evening and/or on weekends?

Yes, it is possible to take lessons in the evening or on Saturdays.

Can I take the theory exam before I turn 18?

Yes; since November 1, 2011, you are allowed to take the theory exam for passenger cars starting at age 16.

The theory certificate is valid for one and a half years.

How long is my theory certificate valid?

Do I need to take a theory course to pass my theory exam?

Taking a theory course is recommended for proper preparation, though it is not mandatory.

I hold a foreign driving licence that is not valid in the Netherlands. How do I take the exam again in the Netherlands?

To obtain a Dutch driving licence, you must pass the theory exam and successfully complete a CBR practical exam.
